Greetings from Church of Peace!

Our Gospel lesson for Sunday finds Jesus’ healing touch changing the lives of people around him.  How has Christ’s healing touch been active in your life?  Join us at 8:45 as we ponder this together.  Holy Communion will be celebrated.

The number of people signed-up for Family Fun Night at the Conger’s home is great.  Haven’t added your family’s name yet? There’s still time on Sunday to sign up for this event to be held the evening of Saturday, September 12^th.  Featured fun will be a hayride and kids’ games plus a flashlight walk through the woods. Pizza, snacks, and dessert will be shared.  Children may bring a friend.  Adults can bring a friend too.

We know of no one who is hospitalized.  Carol Dehnel is now a resident of Hospice Home of Hope.  Please remember Carol and her family when you pray.

A prayer for today: I long for your gentle, healing touch in my life, O God, which can restore your image within me. Please bring me to physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional wholeness so I can serve you more faithfully. Please bless Carol Dehnel and her family with your comfort and peace.  I pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Music will be featured in this Sunday’s service with a guest soloist and several styles of hymns.  Join us for this inspiring service which will begin at 8:45 a.m.

No one is in the hospital that we know of.  Carol Dehnel remains in hospice care at Grandcare. Please hold Carol and her family in your prayers.

Two of our members have died during the past week. Please hold the families of Dorothy Eggers and Jane Furlong in Christian sympathy.

Has your family signed up yet for the Family Fun Night at Larry and Deb Conger’s home?  The event features a horse-drawn hayride, games, and pizza.  Each child may bring one friend.  It will be held on Saturday, September 12^th beginning at 5:00 p.m. Sign up in the narthex or call the church office to say you’ll be attending (921-8215).

September’s The Messenger will be on-line later today (www.uccchurchofpeace.org) and in the narthex on Sunday. It’s chock-full of news and information.

There will be NO WORSHIP

IN THE SANCTUARY

THIS SUNDAY!

Why?

It’s time for our picnic and potluck!  We’ll meet at Taylor Park (corner of South Hickory and Ruggles Streets) at 10:00 for worship.  Bring a lawn chair if you don’t want to sit on a hard bench.  The worship will include lots of fun spiritual songs, a great children’s sermon, and reflections on the Scriptures.  We gave Roger the Sunday off because all the music will be accompanied by the guitar. Join us for this very meaningful service.  And then stay for the picnic.  If you want to bring a dish to pass, that would be great. You can join us without bringing a thing – there will be plenty for all.

Carol Dehnel is in the hospital.  Dorothy Eggers and Margaret Kellet are in hospice care.  Please remember these women and their families when you pray.

A prayer for today: Fill my heart with your spirit, O God.  Inspire me to follow your leading into new areas of Christian service. Show me how to reach out a loving hand or lend a listening ear. Do you wonder if God is powerful enough to really make a difference in your circumstances, your life?  Come on Sunday morning to worship and learn about the amazing power of our Loving Creator.  Worship begins at 8:45 a.m.

Gloriann Meyn is a patient at St. Agnes Hospital.  Please pray that she will experience God’s healing power.

Sunday, August 16^th we will gather at the Taylor Park shelter for worship and a picnic.  There will be a sign-up sheet in the narthex beginning this Sunday for potluck foods.  Plan to attend!

A prayer for today: Another beautiful day outside and another day of blessings!  Thank you, God.  May my appreciation of your generosity be evident in the way I live my life today.  May I treat others with kindness and entertain a joyful spirit in my heart.  Please be with Gloriann Meyn as she recovers from illness.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace on this gorgeous summer day!

You will not want to miss worship on Sunday because the service includes a focus on one of your favorite Bible passages: the 23^rd Psalm.  You’ll leave the service with a refreshed soul. We will be blessed by a solo by Inge Adelmeyer. Join us at 8:45 a.m.

Karen Babler has been in the hospital.  Please pray for her speedy and complete recovery from knee surgery.

Did you know that every Tuesday and Thursday morning, a car pulls into the Church of Peace parking lot and gives a free lunch to anyone who needs one?  It is an ecumenical program coordinated by the Salvation Army.  About 300 lunches are distributed from our lot each week. We are proud to offer our centrally-located location as a distribution spot.

Greetings from Church of Peace 06-11-15

Greetings from Church of Peace,

This week’s service features a humorous story from the Old Testament and two of Jesus’ short parables from the New Testament. It will be a pleasure to honor our graduates as a part of our worship. Join us at 8:45 for a time of spiritual renewal and rededication.

Immediately following the service on Sunday there will be a congregational meeting.  The Council has called this meeting to ask the membership to approve the hiring of Capelle Brothers and Diedrich to be the general contractors for our building project.  We will also be asked to pay Capelle Bros. and Diedrich $50,000 from the Building to Serve Fund for the drawing up of plans and other preparatory work for our new addition.

No one is hospitalized that we know of. 

We extend our Christian sympathy to the family of Beatrice Meixensperger whose funeral was held at the church yesterday.

This weekend the Wisconsin Conference of the United Church of Christ will be meeting in Green Lake.  Ray Beilke and the pastors will represent Church of Peace.

A prayer for today: I come to you with my heart ready to be filled with your love and grace, O God.  Guide my steps today so that I may walk in the ways of Christ in all my interactions. Show me how to be an instrument of your peace. Please bless all who grieve, especially the family of Beatrice Meixensperger. Bless our congregation as we seek to go faithfully into the future.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Holy Communion will be a featured part of this Sunday’s worship service at Church of Peace.  Join us as we sing, pray, and learn from the God of love. 

A week from Sunday, June 14^th, will be a pivotal day in the history of our congregation. Following the worship service at which we honor our graduates, the Council and Building Committee will convene a congregational meeting to vote on hiring Capelle Brothers and Diedrich to build our new addition.  Please be there to help make this critical decision. You can read more about it in the June issue of The Messenger which is available on line (www.uccchurchofpeace.org) and in the entryways at the church.

Rebecca Pluim is in the hospital following major surgery.  Please remember Becky in your prayers.

Shawn Knutson and Sarah Kozicke will be married this Saturday in our sanctuary.  We pray for God’s continued blessing upon their life together as husband and wife.

Next Wednesday, June 10^th, our congregation will be serving the meal at Loaves and Fishes.  We need donations of food and time.  Please take a look at the sign-up sheet in the coatroom.  We especially need workers from 5:00 – 6:30 to help with clean-up. Thank you!

A prayer for today: O God of love and beauty, how my heart sings when the sky is clear and the weather is balmy.  Help me to be as grateful to you for all my blessings when the skies are cloudy and the wind blows with ferocity.  For you take care of me tenderly every day, no matter what is happening around me.  I ask your special blessing upon Rebecca Pluim as she recovers from surgery and on Shawn Knutson and Sarah Kozicke as they begin their married life.  Amen.
