Greetings from Church of Peace 01/19/2017

Greetings from Church of Peace!

The Sunday School children are singing for our worship service on Sunday so you know it will be heart-warming! Join us as we learn from Scripture about how to live together in peace. The service begins at 8:45 a.m. Please continue to come in through the same doors that you have been using.

At 10:00 a.m. we will hold the Annual Meeting of the Congregation in the sanctuary. Plan to stay for this important gathering. The proposed budget is attached to this letter so you can peruse it ahead of the meeting.

Because of the Annual Meeting, the Sunday School children will gather in Gammert Hall before walking to the YMCA together.

Please pray for the family of David Bader whose funeral will be held at the church on Saturday morning.

Looking ahead: On Sunday, January 29th, the congregation will dedicate our new addition to the service and glory of God.  Worship will begin at 8:45 a.m. The blessing of the building will be held during the service.  Then, at 9:45 a.m., the ribbon-cutting will happen and we will proceed together to the Fellowship Hall for a reception.  What a happy day this will be! Plan to be a part of it.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

I’ll see you in church!  Pastor Jenny

A prayer for today: Gentle Savior, I come to you today in the spirit of gratitude.  I am surrounded by your many blessings and I give you my heartfelt thanks.  Please show me how to live out my thankfulness in all that I say and do.  I pray that you will bless the family of David Bader with comfort and peace.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 01/12/17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Worship this Sunday will be held in our sparkling clean sanctuary.  It will help us answer the question, “Do We Have What It Takes?” The choir will sing and there will be a prayer journey. Join us at 8:45 a.m. Please continue to enter the church the way you have been doing; the new doors are not yet ready for use.

Following worship in the sanctuary will be a budget meeting which will provide the congregation an opportunity to ask questions and comment on the proposed 2017 budget.

The Annual Meeting of the congregation will be held on Sunday, January 20th at 10:00 in the sanctuary.  Please plan to attend.

Dena Rose is a patient at Froedtert Hospital.  Please hold her in prayer.

Construction news: Thank you to all of you who have taken some time to clean at the church this week.  There’s more to do, so if you can help Friday morning, please come by with a washrag and a bucket. Saturday is our big moving day – we need everyone’s help with moving and cleaning on that day. Dress warmly! There will be pizza for lunch.

That’s the news from Church of Peace!

See you in church!  Pastor Jenny

A prayer for today: O God of love and power, bless me today with your gifts of purpose and peace. Show me how to serve you with joy. Bless Dena Rose as she is hospitalized. Be with our congregation as we move this weekend into our addition. Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 01-05-17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

This Sunday we will read the story of the Wise Men coming to see Jesus in Bethlehem.  We’ll think together about the meaning of their visit and be inspired by their generous gifts. Little Landon Vogt will be baptized. Worship will begin at 8:45. Social hour will follow worship.

At the beginning of each calendar year, we hand out a “Bible verse of the year” to each worshipper.  These will be distributed this Sunday.

Please bring your Reverse Advent Calendar box to worship with you Sunday.  Someone will be at the door to meet you and take it from you or you can drive to the elevator door and a member of the Stewardship Ministry Team will take it from your car. If you did not participate in the Reverse Advent Calendar and would like to donate some food for the new food pantry, this is a good time to bring it.

Sunday School will resume as usual this Sunday.  The children and teachers will meet at 10:00 in the sanctuary.

Barb Fuderer and Ken Thome have been hospitalized.  Two people have died – Delores Pinkert and Rev. Rich Weikel.  May God bring healing and comfort to all who are in pain or grief.

Construction news: They are putting the final touches on our new addition (wait until you see the beautiful stairway railing!) and we are ready to start moving in.  The first step is to clean the dust off everything in Gammert Hall that will go into the new addition.  Beginning Monday, January 9th, you are encouraged to stop in at the church with a dust rag and bucket and work on this project for a couple of hours.  Saturday, January 14th will be moving day and we want everything to be clean and ready to move.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastor Jenny

A prayer for today: Warm my day, O God, with your loving presence and your sparkling blessing of deep peace.  Show me how to serve you with diligence and joy. Bless all who are sick or in grief today, especially Barb Fuderer, Ken Thome, and the families of Delores Pinkert and Rev. Rich Weikel.  I pray remembering Jesus.  Amen.
