Greetings from Church of Peace 02/09/17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

It’s almost Valentine’s Day and, as has become our custom, during the service we will honor people with enduring marriages. Couples married fifty or more years will receive a rose.  Those married 25-50 years will receive a carnation.  It is such a delight to be able to honor these people! The sermon will focus on Biblical tips for a happy marriage. The choir will sing. Starla Rebedew will present information regarding the “Feed My Hungry Children” food-packaging extravaganza on April 1st.

Edsel Wiegert died yesterday morning.  His funeral will be held Wednesday at the church.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Warm my heart with your tender touch, O God, and fill me with the glow of your Spirit.  Let me shine your light in every aspect of my life as I seek to follow Christ.  Bless with your healing comfort the family of Edsel Wiegert.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 02-02-17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

It’s February already and time for Holy Communion again.  It will be featured at Sunday’s service along with thoughts and songs about light and salt.  Join us at 8:45 a.m. All doors will be open for your use.

Following worship, a reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall to honor Jackie Rymer for her thirteen years of service as our office manager.  As Jackie steps down from this position, we will thank her for her faithful dedication to our congregation for all these years. You will be invited to write a thank you to Jackie. Cards will be available on the table in the narthex or bring your own card. Punch and cake will highlight the celebration.

Beginning next week, our office hours will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Our new administrative assistant, Barbara Abler, will be at the desk and phones.  Stop in and say “hello!” In case of bad weather, we will follow the lead of the Fond du Lac School system: they’re open, we’re open.  A snow day for them is a snow day for us.

Randy Stafford and Edsel Wiegert are both hospitalized.  Please remember them in your prayers.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Dear God of life and new life, I pray that you will bless me today with an awareness of your presence with me.  Show me how to serve you by serving others.  Please shine your healing light upon Randy Stafford and Edsel Wiegert as they are hospitalized.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 1-26-17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Dedication Sunday is finally here!  Join us at 8:45 a.m. for a jubilant worship service (complete with a trumpeter) as we ask God’s blessing upon our new addition.  Following worship, we will proceed to the ribbon-cutting at the new staircase and the reception in the new Fellowship Hall.  It will be a glorious morning!

There is no Sunday School this Sunday so the students and their teachers can enjoy the dedication festivities. For the remaining months of the Sunday School year, the children will be assembling in the sanctuary and walking over to the Y as they have been doing.

In order to stock our new food pantry freezer, we invite you to bring one pound of hamburger or ground turkey to the service on Sunday.  Please leave it in the wrapping in which it was purchased. Thank you!

Donna Birkholz, Alice Thorsby, and Leo Zinniel have been in the hospital.  Donna is home.  Alice is now a resident at the Lutheran Home. Leo is now a patient at St. Francis Home. Please remember these people in your prayers.

Office Manager Jackie Rymer has resigned her position as of Friday, February 3rd. We will host a reception in her honor after worship on February 5th.  Jackie has done an outstanding job for thirteen years and we will miss her in the office. She will continue to worship with us.

Pastor Jim Martin will be leading worship with me on Sunday and will be resuming pastoral duties at Church of Peace over the next few weeks.  We rejoice that he is “back in the saddle again.”

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastor Jenny

A prayer for today: Bless me, O God, on this day as I try to live in the manner of Jesus.  Fill me with your joy and your peace.  Bless Donna Birkholz, Alice Thorsby, and Leo Zinniel with your healing power.  And bless our congregation as we rededicate ourselves and our building to your service.  Amen.
