Greetings from Church of Peace,

Worship this Sunday focuses on the theme of discipleship.  There will be a special treat for the service – our children are singing! Join us at 8:45 a.m. for an uplifting hour.

At 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, after social hour, the whole family is invited to a Family Faith Formation Event on the theme of “Light.” Crafts, a game, music, and worship will be followed by lunch.  We’ll be done around 11:30 or so.  All members and friends of the church are encouraged to attend.

We need two people to host the Homeless Shelter Bridge on Sunday afternoon, January 28^th, from 3:30-6:30.  You can sign up on the bulletin board and we will get you information and the key for St. Paul’s Cathedral where the hosting is held.

Golden Fellowship will be held on Tuesday, January 30^th at 11:00.  There will be fabulous prizes as we enjoy the game of Yahtzee. Lunch will follow.

The Annual Meeting of Church of Peace United Church of Christ will be held on Sunday, January 28^th at 10:00 in the sanctuary.

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Sunday’s Scripture passages are the call of young Samuel and the call of the early disciples.  We will think, sing, and pray together about the nature of God’s call to us.  What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ in 2018?  The choir will sing.

A member of our church family has died.  Connie Thome died on Tuesday evening.  The funeral for Connie will be on Saturday morning at the church.   Please hold Ken and their family in your hearts and prayers.  Please also remember the Lofy family; Michelle’s father, Dick Kunasch, died on Tuesday morning.

A week from this Sunday, on January 21^st, a Family Faith Formation event on the theme of “Light” will be begin at 10:00.  We will have crafts, a game, music, worship, and lunch together.  We’ll plan to be done around 12:30.  People of all ages are encouraged to participate.

A prayer for today: Dear God, I pray that I will be a faithful disciple of Jesus today in all that I say and do.  May my life radiate your peace.  I ask your special blessing upon the Thome and Lofy families as they grieve; may your arms of comfort encircle them with all tenderness.  Amen.  

Greetings from Church of Peace 01-04-18

Greetings from Church of Peace!

We hope you are keeping warm on these frigid days.  Isn’t it great to know that our congregation is helping people stay warm and well-fed through our ministries of caring? Thanks to all who donated food and money over the Advent and Christmas seasons.

Sunday’s Scripture finds Jesus grown up and ready to begin his ministry.  We’ll think together about his baptism and our baptisms.  Holy Communion will be celebrated in the pews.  We will hand out individual Bible verses for 2018.

Connie Thome is a resident of the Hospice Home of Hope.  Please pray for her comfort and peace.

The January Messenger will be available on line this afternoon (www.uccchurchofpeace.org) and the paper copies will be at the church on Sunday.

Coming up: On Sunday, January 28^th the Annual Meeting of the congregation will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the sanctuary.  On Sunday, January 14^th an informational meeting about the budget will be held in the Multipurpose Room at 10:00 a.m.
