Lenten Greetings from Church of Peace!

Tonight we’ll light the Lenten candle of forgiveness and we’ll focus on that topic in the Scriptures. Join us at 7:00 for this faith-building service.

Change can be difficult or refreshing. Come on Sunday and hear what the prophet Isaiah preaches about newness of life as a gift from God. Little Grace Ann Klapperich will be baptized. The service begins at 8:45 a.m.

You didn’t miss your opportunity to help! This Saturday is our final work day as we get ready for the demotion project.  We’ve got lots to do to so please join the happy group of workers, beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Let’s play! Sunday you’ll have a chance to have some fun during social hour.  We’ve set aside the game pieces for shuffleboard and everyone who wants to can try their hand at it in the now-empty Koehler Hall.

If you see fire trucks parked in our parking lot in the next week, don’t be alarmed.  The Fire Department is using our soon-to-be-demolished education wing for search and rescue practice.  They won’t damage anything and we’ll be helping our community in a new way.

There is an up-to-date display in the narthex showing the progress of the Building to Serve project. You can check there any time for the latest construction news.

Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead on Saturday night when you go to bed.  It’s spring ahead for Daylight Saving Time.

A prayer for today: In this season of melting, unfolding, and revealing, I pray, O God, that you will reveal in me a new depth of compassion and a renewed willingness to serve.  You have loved me so very much, now show me the way to live my whole life as an expression of the new life you have asked me to share.  Make me new in this season, in Christ’s name I pray.  Amen.

Lenten Greetings - March 2, 2016

Lenten Greetings from Church of Peace!

Commitment – that’s our theme for tonight’s worship service.  Join us at 7:00 p.m. for a time of spiritual renewal. 

Sunday’s service features a favorite story from Scripture – the Prodigal Son and Forgiving Father.  Holy Communion will be celebrated.  The service begins at 8:45.

Tomorrow the MEGA-SALE begins at 9:00 a.m. and runs for three days. Please encourage everyone you know to stop in and shop. We’ve got stuff from socks to a furnace, from baby clothes to sinks.  We’ll use the proceeds to furnish the rooms in our new addition.

If you’d like to help, just show up beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the elevator door on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.  On Monday, we’ll be packing up the left-overs and can use helpers beginning at 10:00. We’ve had a marvelous amount of help thus far – thank you! Let’s keep on sharing the load!

Lenten Greetings 02/24/16

Greetings from Church of Peace on this Lenten Wednesday!

Tonight’s Biblical theme is reconciliation. The Lenten candle will be lit. Watch as Barney Fife stirs up a mess in Mayberry. Join us at 7:00 for the service.

Sunday’s service will deal with the question, “Am I producing good fruit for God?” Come ponder the Scripture with us and be renewed by music and prayer.

We extend our condolences to the family of Douglas Baker. Doug’s memorial service will be held tomorrow.

Got some time to help out?  Set-up for the massive demo/rummage sale continues Thursday and Friday afternoons as well as Saturday (9 a.m.-3 p.m.).  All hands on board for this huge and important undertaking!!!

This Sunday is the last members-only preshop for the demo sale.  Bids will be accepted until 11:15 a.m.

A prayer for today: O God, thank you for this day which brings me yet another opportunity to enjoy living in your light.   Wherever I need healing, touch me with your gentle love.
