Greetings from Church of Peace!

When the storms of life assail you, when everything is falling apart, where do you turn? Our Scripture readings for Sunday teach us how to trust Christ in difficult times.  Join us for a time of spiritual growth and joy. Worship is at 8:45 a.m.

Sunday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. our 7-12^th graders are enjoying an evening at the Fondy Sports Park before heading to the church for ice cream, conversation, and worship. 

We need some willing workers on this Saturday morning as we finish up the floors in the redesigned Sunday School department.  We’ll be meeting at 8:00 a.m. No previous flooring experience necessary. There will be donuts!

Next Wednesday is Family Day Camp at Pilgrim Center.  We still have a few spaces available, so call the church (921-8215) if you’d like to sign up.  It’ll be a fun day and the weather forecast is spectacular. 

What’s up with the sanctuary air conditioner?  In a word, it is kaput.  The Council has called in experts to evaluate its overall condition before sinking any more money into it. We will worship in our air-conditioned Fellowship Hall if, on any upcoming Sunday, it is too hot and stuffy in the sanctuary.  We’ll keep you posted.

A prayer for today: Generous Provider of all things good, I turn to you with a heart filled with gratitude for the many ways you bless my life each day.  Thank you for the beauty with which you surround me, for the love which fills my heart, and for heaven-sent strength as I face the challenges of life.  I long to express my gratitude in faithful service to Christ, our Savior and Friend.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace!

The Feeding of the 5,000 is the Bible story for Sunday – a real favorite with lots of meaning. Holy Communion will be served in the pews. Todd Whittaker will grace our service with a solo.  Join us at 8:45 a.m. for this inspirational hour.

We extend our Christian sympathy to Jody Marcoe whose mother has died.

As is our custom, we will be receiving a communion offering after the service on Sunday. Right now our fund is very low and we are not able to help people with rent and utilities.  Please plan to be generous with your offering this Sunday.

Many fun and inspirational activities are coming up in August which you can find out about by reading the newsletter on line at www.uccchurchofpeace.org.  Here are the highlights:

Sunday, August 13^th – Youth Trip to Fondy Sports Park (6:00 p.m.)

August 16 – Family Day Camp at Pilgrim Center (8:45 – 7:00 p.m.)

August 20 – Church Worship and Picnic at Taylor Park (10:00 a.m.)

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Isn’t this summer weather lovely?  How blessed we are to live in a place with such a glorious season as this! God has indeed created a beautiful world.

Join us as we worship our Creator God this Sunday at 8:45.  This week Jesus speaks to us through the Scripture about our worries and how to overcome them. Don’t miss this hour of spiritual renewal and refreshment.

We have two people hospitalized from our church family -- Dennis Schumacher and Gloriann Meyn.  Please pray for God’s presence with them as they recover.  Please also remember our janitor Norbert when you pray; Norbert injured his shoulder here at work and had surgery this morning.  He will be away from his job at Church of Peace for six to twelve weeks.

This Monday’s softball game will be at S. Cutler Field at 6:00 p.m.  Come cheer on our team!

A prayer for today: My heart sings your praises, O God, for the lovely world you have created. As the gorgeous flowers glow with your beauty, may I shine with your love. I pray for Dennis Schumacher, Gloriann Meyn, and Norbert Gonzales as they recover from illness and injury.  May they know your healing power in their lives.  These things I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
