Greetings from Church of Peace 06-27-13

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Each one of us is a unique mixture of delightful qualities and distasteful tendencies.  Our Scripture reading on Sunday will give us guidance on how to nurture the good within us while minimizing the disagreeable aspects of our personalities.   Lindsay Reiter will provide special music.  Andrew Curl will be baptized.  Join us for an hour of spiritual refreshment.  The service will begin at 8:45 a.m.

Can’t come Sunday?  We’ll meet tonight at 6:30 in the Youth Room for NEW worship.

We have two people hospitalized that we know of at this time: Carla Behnke and Jim Mitchell.  Please remember them when you pray.

Tomorrow a group from Church of Peace heads up to northern Wisconsin to go rafting for the day.  We have a couple of openings, so if you’d like to go, call the church (921-8215) or email Pastor Jenny for details.

Sunday evening the Church of Peace Diner’s Club will be lighting up Schmitty’s Oar House with laughter and conversation. Come join us as we enjoy a good dinner in the private dining room.  We’ll be ordering off the menu.  The fun begins at 5:30 p.m.

Monday’s softball game is at 7:00 p.m. at Cutler Field.  Go, team, go!

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: O Ever-Present One who fills my life with over-flowing blessings, I come to you with a grateful heart today.  Thank you for the many ways that you show your love for me. I long to share that love with the world. Please heal whatever within me is broken or wounded so that I can be more fully capable of serving you.  I pray that you will help Carla Behnke and Jim Mitchell to experience your healing power in their lives as well.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 06-13-13

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Changing Fathers Into Dads is the title of Sunday’s sermon. We’ll be honoring dads -- and grads -- in worship on Sunday.   New members will be received as well.  Join us at 8:45 for this joy-filled service.

Tonight at 6:30 we will gather for NEW worship.  This is a good time to worship if you cannot come on Sunday or if you like a more casual, interactive service.  We meet in the Upper Room of Gammert Hall.

A member of our congregation has died.  The service for Pearl Brookman will be on Saturday.  Please remember her family in your prayers.

George Scott remains a patient in Rochester. He is deeply appreciative of the prayers of our church family.  Lola Shady is hospitalized in Waupun.  Please pray for her as well.

The Worship Enhancement Team will meet on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. to plan for the upcoming season.

Monday’s softball game is at 6:00 at Sabish Middle School.

COMING UP
June 25 – Golden Fellowship with Fond du Lac Arborist
June 28 – Rafting Trip on Peshtigo River

See you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: On this glorious day, my heart sings your praises, O God.  Blessings abound in my life and I am grateful.  I pray that you will show me how to express my gratitude in deeds of kindness and words of encouragement.  Please bless the family of Pearl Brookman with your comfort.  Be with George Scott and Lola Shady; may they feel your healing presence with them.  I pray in gratefulness and trust. Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 06-06-13

Greetings from Church of Peace!

A widow and her young son are totally out of food.  The prophet Elijah comes on the scene.  What happens in this Bible story will amaze you.  Come Sunday at 8:45 and hear the whole account.  We’ll also discuss it tonight at the NEW Worship service in the Upper Room of Gammert Hall at 6:30 p.m.  Either way, join us to have your faith deepened as you experience a sense of God’s nearness.

This Friday and Saturday is the Annual Meeting of the Wisconsin Conference of the United Church of Christ.  Jim and Jenny will be presenting two workshops on blended worship.  Several members of the congregation will be in attendance at the conference.

George Scott remains hospitalized at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.  Please remember him in your prayers.

On Monday, the Church of Peace softball team plays at 9:00 p.m. at Cutler Field.

There will be a new member orientation on Wednesday.  Please let us know if you would like to attend.

We will be honoring our graduates on June 16th.  Please call Jackie (921-8215) if someone in your household is graduating from high school, technical school, or college.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Do I trust you, O God?  My first answer would be “yes” but then I catch myself fretting and worrying about many things.  Today, calm my anxious heart and show me how to live in patient trust.  Restore my sense of inner peace and outer joy.  I pray that George Scott will continue to heal and that he will feel the support and affection not only of heaven, but also of his church family.  Amen.
