Greetings from Church of Peace 07/28/16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

No one wants to come to the end of their life just to discover that they missed the whole point or that they lived shallowly. Our Scripture readings for Sunday address the question, “What brings meaning to life?” Come hear Jesus’ prescription for a life of satisfaction and purpose.  Pastor Jim will provide special music.

Darlene Luttenberger is hospitalized in Milwaukee.  Please remember her when you pray.

Our ten youth and two coaches are having a great time in Orlando, representing us at the National Youth Event of the UCC.  Again we thank the congregation for your generous support and for holding our delegation in your prayers. They’ll be back Saturday with lots of good stories and insights to share with us.

Monday’s softball game will begin at 8:00 p.m. at Cutler Field.  It’s really fun to cheer our team on, so join us!

Construction Update: This week, the roof girders have been put into place and are being covered with plywood.  Isn’t the profile of the new building beautiful?

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Today, O God, I bring before my concerns for Darlene Luttenberger as she recovers from surgery and our National Youth Event delegation as they learn and grow in faith.  May your Holy Spirit bless each one.  Bless me too as I seek to live this day as Jesus’ disciple.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 07/21/16

Greetings from Church of Peace,

Are you worried about many things? Does it seem like the world is stormy and unpredictable? Join us on Sunday for encouraging words on coping with life’s storms. We’ll be blessing our National Youth Event trip members.  Worship begins at 8:45 a.m.

Audrey Schaalma is in the hospital.  A funeral for Michael Gruenwald was held yesterday.  When you pray, please remember to ask for God’s comfort and healing strength not only for Audrey but for Michael’s family as well.

Tuesday at 2:30 a.m. (you read that right – a.m.) the National Youth Event team will be leaving for Orlando for five days of faith-building, service projects, and fun.  Please keep these twelve youth and adults in your prayers.

Our softball team will be playing at South Cutler Field on Monday night at 6:00 p.m. Come cheer them on!

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church! Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: On this stormy day, I give thanks for your protective love which covers me throughout the storms of life. You are always with me, giving me strength.  Thank you.  Please shine your healing light upon Audrey Schaalma and the family of Michael Gruenwald.  And bless our youth and their advisors with a trip that is full of faith and fun.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 07/14/16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

We are back from a trip to the Pacific Northwest.  What a beautiful area of God’s world! We will be sharing pictures with you during upcoming services so that you can enjoy these awe-inspiring sights as we did. Join us at 8:45 a.m. this Sunday.

Please remember Michael Grunewald in your prayers.  He is hospitalized and critically ill. Please also pray for the family of Norma Bacon.  Her funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon.

There will be a meeting of the National Youth Event kids, chaperones, and parents on Wednesday, July 20th, at 6:30 p.m. in Gammert.  We are so proud of our youth who will be representing us at this gathering in late July.

Construction news: the outside walls are on their way up. You can see the basic shape of the new addition and it is beautiful!

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Bless me, O God, with a grateful heart and a spirit eager to do your will.  Let your light shine through me today.  I pray that your comfort and peace will abound in the lives of Michael Grunewald and the family of Norma Bacon.  Amen.
