Greetings from Church of Peace 03-31-2016

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Christ is risen!  Christ is risen indeed! This Sunday we’ll continue our Easter praises in song and prayer.  Holy Communion will be celebrated. Join us at 8:45 a.m.

When you come to worship Sunday, please remember that only two outside doors will be functioning: the red doors off Military Road and the “elevator door” off Ruggles. The garage is now gone. You can drop off passengers by the elevator door and drive through to the north lot.  If you have trouble walking, we encourage you to park in the back parking lot.  Otherwise, please park in the north parking lot or over at the YMCA.

We know of two people who are hospitalized from our church family: Amy Schmitz and Don Gerbing.  Please remember them in your prayers.

The asbestos abatement team has been hard at work this week removing the dangerous substance from our building.  It is exciting to see the project underway! If you have questions, you can ask the Construction Committee who’ll be serving the social hour this Sunday.

Sunday, April 10th is COP Day at the YMCA. The whole family is invited to use the facilities of the Y.  We’ll serve pizza at noon.  Please call (921-8215) or sign up on the bulletin board to let us know you’ll be participating so we have enough food.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Bless me, O God, with a sense of your nearness.  Let me hear you calling me to serve so I can say, “Hear I am, send me.”  Please bless Don Gerbing and Amy Schmitz with your tender healing power.  I pray remembering the Risen Christ.  Amen.

Holy Week Greetings 2016

Holy Week Greetings from Church of Peace!

We greet you in the name of Christ on this holiest of weeks in the church year.  Here’s the schedule:
v

  • Tonight’s Maundy Thursday service begins at 7:00 p.m.  We will remember Jesus washing the feet of the disciples and we will share the Lord’s Supper around the table.

  • v Tomorrow’s Good Friday service also begins at 7:00 p.m. Listen as people from the Bible tell of their experiences on the tragic day when Jesus was killed. Pastor Jim will sing a solo. The candles will be extinguished and we will leave in silence.

  • Sunday’s Easter services begin at 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. At each service, we will have a trumpeter, the choir will sing, and we will celebrate Holy Communion.  There will be a social hour between services.

We invite you to make your Easter observation complete by attending worship on each of these holy days.

Please remember Norma Bacon in your prayers.  Her son Len died this week.

All doors will be open this Sunday so you can park and enter as usual. Asbestos abatement takes place next week; call the church before you stop by because the staff may be working from their homes on a couple of the days next week.

The April edition of The Messenger is now available on our website (www.uccchurchofpeace.org) and in the elevator entrance of the church building.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church! Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: On this holy Thursday, O God, I pause to thank you once again for the beautiful witness of Jesus as he commanded us to love one another and for the ways he showed that love in his life.  Please enable my life to be a true reflection of my deep gratitude.  I pray for your gift of solace to be poured out on Norma Bacon.  And please bless our congregation as we worship and pray in the coming days.  Amen.

Lenten Greetings from Church of Peace 03-16-16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Join us at 7:00 p.m. tonight as the gang from Mayberry inspires us one more time.  Attendance has been steady, so we know that the services are enriching spiritually.  Tonight the candle of perseverance will be lit.

Sunday is Palm Sunday, one of the most visually delightful worship experiences of the year.  The Sunday School children will bless us with an anthem. We’ll sing “Hosannas” and each take home a palm branch. Little Bradley Hanson will be baptized. The service begins at 8:45 a.m.

Don Gerbing, Barb Gustafson, and KT Stephany are all in the hospital.  Please remember them in your prayers.
