Greetings from Church of Peace 08-31-17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

We’ll be celebrating Holy Communion on Sunday.  The Scripture reading will focus on living a Christian lifestyle.  Join us at 8:45 for a time of renewal and blessing.

We’ve been holding the people of Texas and Louisiana in our prayers.  If you wish to make a financial contribution through the United Church of Christ’s Disaster Relief Fund, just write a check to Church of Peace, list Hurricane Harvey on the memo line, and put it in the offering on Sunday.  This money will be used for food and supplies in flood-stricken areas. Thank you!

Do you have a home in a high-traffic area of the city?  Would you be willing to put a sign in your yard to advertise the Church of Peace Fall Festival?  If so, you can pick up a sign on Sunday.  Thank you!

In the days to come:

Sunday School for All Ages begins on Sunday, September 10th.

The Church Family Bike Ride and Picnic will be held on Sunday, September 17th at 11:15 a.m. in Lakeside Park. Please sign up.

Golden Fellowship’s Summer Show and Tell will be on Tuesday, September 19th at 11:00.  Please sign up in the narthex.

The Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, September 23 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

For more information on these and lots of other topics, check out our September Messenger on line at www.uccchurchofpeace.org or pick one up at the church.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Thank you, O God, for blessing me with your presence today.  Help me to feel your nearness and love.  Shine your light of peace into my heart.  Show me how to bless others with the love which you have shown to me.  I pray for all those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.  May the aid they need arrive promptly and may their fears be calmed by your loving Spirit.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 08/24/2017

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Baby Moses in the Bulrushes is a Bible story that many of us enjoyed in Sunday School.  Sunday we’ll find meaning in it for folks of all ages.  Inge Adelmeyer will grace our service with special music.  Join us at 8:45 a.m. for an hour of inspiration and renewal.

Just for us! Beginning at 10:00 a.m. Sunday and continuing until noon, the gardens of Rob and Deb Giese will be open for touring. The Giese family lives at W7021 Subway Road north of Fond du Lac.  Directions to their home will be printed in this Sunday’s worship bulletin.

The Chapel Choir will begin rehearsals for the season on this Sunday, August 27th at 8:00 in the Multipurpose Room.  New voices will be wholeheartedly welcomed.

Randy Stafford is in the hospital.  Please remember him in prayer.

It’s been a very busy week here at Church of Peace as we assemble the details for the September Messenger.  It is the newsiest Messenger we’ve had in years – chocked full of all sorts of fresh programs and events for our church family.  This issue includes Sunday School news and introduces a new COP book readers’ group.  The newsletter will be available on line after Friday (www.uccchurchofpeace.org) and, beginning on Sunday morning, at the church.

Looking ahead:
Wednesday, September 6th – Confirmation Orientation
Sunday, September 10th – Sunday School begins for all ages
Sunday, September 17th – Family Bike Ride and Potluck Picnic
          Tuesday, September 19th – Golden Fellowship Show-And-Tell
Saturday, September 23rd – Fall Festival

A prayer for today: How honored I am, O God, to be one of Jesus’ disciples.  Show me how to live out my calling faithfully today in my many activities and conversations.  Bless Randy Stafford with a sense of your nearness and shine your healing light upon him.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 08-17-17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

It’s time for the outdoor worship and potluck picnic!  Join us at the Taylor Park shelter at 10:00 on Sunday morning for a camp-like worship service. We’ll have lots of guitar music and joyful songs. Minnow races will bring smiles to all. The potluck features sub sandwiches, water, and soda pop.  These will be provided along with plates and utensils.  Please bring your own chair and a dish to pass. There will be no worship in the sanctuary this Sunday.

Saturday we’ll be gathering at 8:00 a.m. to finish up the floors in the Sunday School rooms.  Please come help if you can – we’re eager to be done so we can “move in.”

A great time was had by all at the youth gathering on Sunday night and at the day camp yesterday.  Thanks to all the people who participated in these fun and faith-building events.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

A prayer for today: As this lovely day unfolds, O God, please bring me many opportunities to serve you with a kind word or a smile of encouragement.  Make me an instrument of your peace. And fill me with an awareness of your compassionate love in my life.  Amen.
