Greetings from Church of Peace 08/26/16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Who are your heroes?  One of mine is Fanny Crosby, a woman in the early 1800’s who worked in the inner-city missions of New York and also wrote many gospel hymns.  We’ll sing three of her songs on Sunday and be inspired by her life story.  Inge Adelmeyer will provide special music.  Little Rhett Zupke will be baptized.  The service begins at 8:45.

Construction news: This week the construction crew worked on the roof over the new narthex.  They also bricked in the windows that were removed for the new addition.

Looking ahead:
*Sunday School begins on September 11th.
*Car show and ice cream on September 11th.
                   *Women’s retreat September 30-October 1st.
Details on these and other newsy items are available in the September Messenger which will be available on line after noon today (www.uccchurchofpeace.org) and at the church on Sunday.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Bless me, O God, with a renewed faith in your good will for my life and with new zeal for your work. Use me to accomplish important things for you.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 08/18/16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Come join us Sunday for lovely pictures on the jumbotron, nature-based songs, and Scriptures that teach us about God’s love and our lives. “Lessons from the Redwoods” is the title of this Sunday’s sermon: we will reflect on how God speaks to us through these gigantic beauties. Little Cory James Schaefferkoetter will be baptized.

Monday night our softball team will continue tournament play at 7:00 p.m. at Evans Middle School. If they win this game, they will play at 9:00 p.m. at Cutler Field on Monday night.  Join us for a very fun evening of cheering them on!

Next Tuesday you are invited to a Golden Fellowship gathering at Faro’s Family Restaurant at ll:30 a.m. for a shared meal and conversation.  Please sign up ahead of time so we can let the restaurant know how many of us to expect.

Construction news: The roof is almost completely shingled.  Today they are building a twelve-foot block wall to serve as the base for the narthex roof.  They are also putting in interior walls for the rest of the building. Progress continues!

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church! Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Another beautiful day to live in praise and service to you, O God!  Thank you! May my every word and deed reflect your love at work.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 08/12/16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

This Sunday brings us the fun and inspiration of outdoor worship and the church picnic.  We’ll meet at Taylor Park at 10:00. Please bring a chair.  Following worship, we’ll eat together.  Sub sandwiches, water and juice boxes, plates, and utensils will be provided.  Please bring a dish to pass.  There’ll be minnow races after lunch and there will be free swimming at the Taylor Park pool beginning at 1:00 p.m. What a great time this will be!

THERE WILL BE NO WORSHIP IN THE SANCTUARY ON SUNDAY because of the outdoor worship at Taylor Park.

Church of Peace Day Camp will be held on Wednesday, August 17th.  If you want to attend and haven’t registered yet, please call the church office (921-8215) or bring your completed form on Sunday to the outdoor worship service.

Calling All Car Enthusiasts! On September 11th, we will be setting aside parking spaces in the 2nd Street parking lot for classic or sports cars.  If interested in bringing your car, please call Ron at 929-9084 so we reserve enough spaces.  Social hour that Sunday will be held outside.  Come, enjoy an ice cream cone or cup, and check out the cars!

Wondering why this greeting is a day late?  Pastor Jenny was out of town yesterday at a meeting of the Committee on Pastoral and Congregational Ethics of the Northeast Wisconsin Association of the United Church of Christ.  Both of your pastors serve the wider church in a variety of ways. Ray Beilke and Art Conklin also have positions on Northeast Association committees.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Bless me, O God, with a sense of your nearness as I go about my day.  Show me ways to serve you.  Fill my heart with your peace.  Amen.
