Greetings from Church of Peace 05/31/17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Pentecost will be celebrated on Sunday as we sing songs about the Holy Spirit and remember the birthday of the Christian Church.  Todd Whittaker will provide special music.  Holy Communion will be celebrated.  Please wear red if you have it to help us experience the fiery spirit of the day.  Worship begins at 8:45 a.m.

On Sunday, you are invited to bring a pound of ground meat for the food pantry freezer. We will have coolers at each door.  Please leave the meat in its original store wrapping (this is required by the health department). Thank you!

Saturday is the spring All-Church Work Day.  We will be gathering at 8:00 a.m. and working until noon.  Two special projects will be done – landscaping outside and laying the carpet for our Sunday School rooms on the inside.  No prior experience needed!  Please bring gardening tools such as a trowel, rake, hoe, etc.

Ken Thome is in the hospital.  John Waldschmidt plans to go home today. Please remember these men when you pray.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Thank you, O God, for this lovely day.  You have designed our earth with such beauty and balance.  We pray for the wisdom to care for it well.  Please bless Ken Thome and John Waldschmidt with returning health and strength.  Bless our congregation as we work together on Saturday and as we celebrate Pentecost on Sunday.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 5/25/17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

We’ll be busy at Church of Peace this weekend.

Saturday will be a landscaping “party” from 9-noon.  Please bring your own rake, shovel, tiller – whatever might come in handy.  We will be delighted to have your help.

Sunday’s service will focus on remembering those who have died in our own lives.  How does our faith comfort us as we grieve the loss of loved ones? The service will begin at 8:45 a.m.

Sunday evening our youth will gather at 6:30 for a fun time of take-away BINGO, ice cream, Seroogy’s Chocolates, and updates for the coming months.  Confirmands through high school youth are invited.

The office will be closed on Memorial Day so our staff can observe the holiday.

Tuesday is the Golden Fellowship Horicon Marsh adventure.  We’ll leave at 9:30 a.m. for a time of exploration, good “eats,” and fun. Right now the weather looks “iffy.”  We will contact those who have signed up if the trip is postponed due to weather.

John Waldschmidt is a patient at St. Agnes Hospital. Remember him in prayer, please.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church! Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Thank you for walking each step of today by my side, O God.  Help me to notice your many surprising blessings along the way.  I pray for healing for John Waldschmidt. I also pray for those for whom this Memorial Day is especially difficult; may they know your comfort and peace.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 05-18-17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Sunday’s service will be full of joy and meaning.  We will confirm eight youth. New members will join. The Sunday School will sing. The choir will present its final anthems of the season. Please join us for this festival of faith.  You’ll be so happy that you are a part of it!

We know of no one who is hospitalized at this time.

If the weather cooperates, we will be gathering on Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. to prepare the new ground for landscaping.  We’ll need lots of help with weeding and soil preparation before the planting can begin.  We plan to be working in the yard for three consecutive Saturdays so jot it on your calendar now. Thank you!

There is still time to sign up for the Horicon Marsh excursion on May 30th.  You can call the office (921-8215) to register or sign up on the bulletin board at the church.  It will be a lot of fun and education, too!

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

A prayer for today: Surprise me today, O God, with an unexpected blessing and open my heart to receive it with joy.  Show me how to walk humbly with you through the hours of this day.  Amen.
