Greetings from Church of Peace 10-26-17

Greetings from Church of Peace on this chilly day!

It is Reformation Sunday and Church of Peace will commemorate this important historical event with a service that is current and inspirational.  Jack Kiefer will speak about our church and the influence our faith has had on his life. The choir will sing. Join us at 8:45 a.m.

Please pray for Tom Strauss as he approaches the end of his earthly journey and for June Kohnke and Bill Whittaker who are hospitalized.

The church has been a flutter of activity all week as the Ladies of Peace have been preparing for the Rummage and Bake Sale which begins tomorrow.  Today – Thursday – is the last day you can bring items for sale; please bring your baked goods today or early tomorrow.  Thank you! Shopping hours are Friday 8-4 and Saturday 8-2.

Saturday we’re calling all handymen and handywomen to a work day of raking, touch-up painting, and assorted small but important tasks around the property.  We’ll be here from 8-noon.  Any and all help will be appreciated! Bring a rake and/or a paintbrush.

Saturday morning at 8:30 the Readers’ Group will meet at Rolling Meadows Restaurant to discuss our latest book, Sheboygan County Chronicle.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: It is with trust in your ever-flowing love that I come to you today, O God.  I pray that you will bless me with an intense sense of your presence and a clear vision of how I can best serve you.  Please bless with your comforting strength Tom Strauss, Bill Whittaker, and June Kohnke. May your whole creation live in your peace.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 10-19-17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

This Sunday we begin our Witnessing Steward series for the year.  Connie Thome will be our speaker, addressing the question of how her faith and our congregation have helped her in her life.  In addition to Connie’s testimony, we will have the baptism of little Bensyn Dean and a prayer journey.  The Scripture reading is a favorite: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Join us at 8:45 for this meaningful hour of worship.

Bill Whittaker is a patient at St. Agnes Hospital.  Please pray that God’s healing light will continue to shine upon him.

On Saturday afternoon, Siera Ramirez and Tyler Williams will be married in our sanctuary.  May God grant them joy and peace in their life together.

The bad news is that our food pantry shelves are almost empty.  The good news is that the Boy Scouts will be delivering food to us on Saturday morning. Can you come help receive the food? Just stop in at the church between 10:00 and noon to assist with the sorting and shelving of this much-needed food.  And thank you, Boy Scouts!

The Ladies of Peace are happily accepting articles for their rummage sale any time that the church office is open. Next week, they will be here setting up and would love your help.

A prayer for today: Warm my heart with your love, O God, so that I have the compassion and joy I need to live faithfully in the manner of Jesus. How I long to bring kindness and peace into this world! I give you thanks for the healing that Bill Whittaker has experienced and pray that he will continue to grow stronger.  Bless Siera and Tyler with many years of heaven-sent love.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace!

The little children sing in worship on Sunday which means there will be many smiles.  Join us as we ponder “What is God like?” The service will begin at 8:45 a.m.

Bill Whittaker is a patient in the hospital. Please pray for his complete and speedy recovery from surgery.

We extend our Christian sympathy to the Kiefer family.  Dave’s mom died early this week.

A prayer for today: Bless me, O God, with a deep and holy joy as I go about my day today.  Show me ways to serve you by serving others.  Make me an instrument of your peace.  I pray that you will bless Bill Whittaker and the Kiefer family with strength and solace.  Thank you, God.  Amen.
