Thanksgiving Greetings from Church of Peace

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Tonight we will gather at 7:00 p.m. for a lovely candle-lit service of thanksgiving. Join us as we celebrate Holy Communion (in the pews), sing songs of praise, and take time to thank God for our many, many blessings. It will be a heart-warming service.

Advent is almost here! Sunday is the Advent Sunday of Hope – and who couldn’t use a little of that! The sanctuary will be resplendent in its blue finery, the Candle of Hope will be lit, and we’ll sing, O Come, O Come Emmanuel. You’ll receive your Reverse Advent Calendar to help make the season more holy. Join us 8:45 a.m. for this time of renewal.

The December Messenger is available on line on our website (www.uccchurchofpeace.org) and at the church.

Construction news: Isn’t it nice to have our parking areas back and better than ever? It was primarily inside work this week – they’ve been installing the stairs and the landings and hanging the suspended ceilings. The painting is moving along toward completion. Outside, the rain gutters have been hung.  Great progress continues!

Think you know Fond du Lac pretty well? Golden Fellowship is coming up on Tuesday, December 6th at 11:00 a.m. We’ll have a fun slide show to see if we can identify some local landmarks.  Lunch will follow.  Sign up on the bulletin board for this smile-filled event.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

I’ll see you in church!  Pastor Jenny

A prayer for today: I cannot count my blessings, O God, because you have provided so abundantly for me.  Please accept my heartfelt thanks.  As I head into the Advent season, help me to prepare the way of Christ by words of kindness and acts of generosity. Thank you, God.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 11-17-16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Who’s in charge here?  We are tempted to ask this question whenever things go wrong – in nature, in society, in our own lives.  Sunday’s service celebrates the Reign of Christ.  We will think together about what it means that God’s power is over all.

We know of no one who is hospitalized at this time.

Next Wednesday night, please join us for a Thanksgiving Eve service at 7:00 p.m. It will be a lovely, quiet service of gratitude. A prayer journey and pew communion will be featured.  You will be glad you came (and so will God!).

Construction news: This week the aroma of fresh paint wafted through our work area from the interior of the new addition. The asphalt was laid in the parking lot; the stripes go on today. The back parking lot will continue to be one-way driving. There will be handicapped parking (now angle parking) in that lot. The first spot will become a garden since the city does not allow it to be used for parking – too close to the sidewalk.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

See you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: O God of wisdom and kindness, bless me with whatever gifts I need to proceed faithfully through my day today. Show me how to praise you by living in the manner of Jesus.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 11-09-16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Sunday’s service will be full of joy as we celebrate a baptism (little Julia Violet Oleson) and renew our financial commitment during the offering.  The choir will offer an anthem.  Join us at 8:45 a.m. for this hour of faith.

Elaine Schabel and Dave Denslow are hospitalized.  Please remember them in your prayers.

The Worship Enhancement Team will meet on Saturday morning at 9:30 to plan for Thanksgiving, Advent, and Christmas.  Beauty is on the way!

We’re looking forward to the Thanksgiving Eve service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23rd.  Plan to join your church family in this service of gratitude. Holy Communion will be served in the pews.

Construction update: concrete has been poured and interior walls have been texturized.  The asphalt between the disabled parking area and the big parking lot is currently torn up as they prepare to repave that area.  This means we will not be able to drive through on Sunday.  There will be a few disabled parking spaces available.  If you park in the big parking lot, allow extra time to walk around to the front of the building. This might be a good week to utilize the YMCA parking lot.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: I need to sense your nearness today, O God. When I am filled with gratitude, remind me to live out my thankfulness in a loving life.  When I am uncertain, show me the way to walk faithfully though life. When I am afraid, fill me with your courage and peace.  Bless Elaine Schabel and Dave Denslow with your healing light.  I pray these things remembering Jesus.  Amen.
