Greetings from Church of Peace 04/28/16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

This Sunday, we’ll continue our sermon series on the Book of Acts with the story of Lydia. Holy Communion will be celebrated. We’ll begin at 8:45 a.m.  At 10:00 a.m. Sunday School will commence at the YMCA and at 10:15, the Council, Stewardship Team, and Construction Team will meet in the sanctuary to view and discuss the SHIFT videos.

Join us for supper at Blanck’s Supper Club at 5:00 on Sunday evening.  You can call the church to sign up (921-8215).  It’ll be fun conversation and good food!

Construction news: Demolition is nearly done and they are doing clean-up on the property.  A tree fell on our sign.  A new sign will be provided at no cost to us.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: How do you want me to be today, O God? Fill me with your peace and joy. How can I help you today, O God? I am at your service. Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 04/21/16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Join us in worship Sunday as we read in the Bible about a blanket full of dirty animals. Really! It’s actually a vision that teaches us about acceptance and diversity.  Come on Sunday to learn about it and to be inspired by prayer, hymn, and anthem.  We’ll begin at 8:45 a.m.

As a sign of our eagerness to welcome our disabled people in worship, we have added additional handicap parking along Ruggles Street on Sundays. This is in addition to the elevator parking lot which on Sunday is exclusively handicap parking. We are asking able-bodied drivers to park in the north lot or at the YMCA. Thank you for helping us to be good hosts for our less-abled friends.

Your May Messenger will be available on the website by Friday noon (www.uccchurchofpeace.org) and in the elevator entrance on Sunday. Watch the website – soon we’ll be adding lots of construction pictures.

You are invited to Nathan Athorp’s ordination at Pilgrim Center this Sunday at 3:00 p.m.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Bless me today, O God, with a call to Christian service and an eagerness to answer that call affirmatively.  I want to be useful to you in your goal to bring love and compassion to this world.  Show me how to be an instrument of your peace.  I pray this in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 04/14/2016

Greetings from Church of Peace!

This Sunday’s service has a special treat! When the workers removed the cornerstone from the 1955 addition, they found a time capsule behind the stone.  We’ll open it during this Sunday’s children’s sermon.  Join us as we examine this treasure! The sermon will feature a visit from a first-century woman and, of course, we’ll join together in prayer and song. The service begins at 8:45 a.m.

Tom Schultz is in the hospital.  Please pray for Tom’s full recovery.

Building to Serve news this week: as of this writing, only the wall along Military Road remains standing.  Huge piles of metal have been taken to the recyclers. Rubble from the bricks and concrete will be ground up to be used under the foundation. Lots of progress toward our bright future!

On the bulletin board in Gammert Hall, you can sign up not only for the Golden Fellowship trip to Jung’s/Pilgrim Center/ the Amish Shops on April 26th but also for the Diner’s Club at Blanck’s Lake Aire Supper Club on Sunday, May 1st.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church. Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Gracious God of heaven and earth, on this spring day I give you thanks for the many ways you bring newness of life to every aspect of my life. I pray that I may be an agent of your uplifting love in the lives of others.  Please continue to bless Tom Schultz with returning health and strength.  I pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
