Lenten Greetings 02/24/16

Greetings from Church of Peace on this Lenten Wednesday!

Tonight’s Biblical theme is reconciliation. The Lenten candle will be lit. Watch as Barney Fife stirs up a mess in Mayberry. Join us at 7:00 for the service.

Sunday’s service will deal with the question, “Am I producing good fruit for God?” Come ponder the Scripture with us and be renewed by music and prayer.

We extend our condolences to the family of Douglas Baker. Doug’s memorial service will be held tomorrow.

Got some time to help out?  Set-up for the massive demo/rummage sale continues Thursday and Friday afternoons as well as Saturday (9 a.m.-3 p.m.).  All hands on board for this huge and important undertaking!!!

This Sunday is the last members-only preshop for the demo sale.  Bids will be accepted until 11:15 a.m.

March’s Messenger is now on-line at www.uccchurchofpeace.org. You can pick up a copy in Gammert Hall on Sunday.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: O God, thank you for this day which brings me yet another opportunity to enjoy living in your light.   Wherever I need healing, touch me with your gentle love. I pray that you will show me where to shine for you.  Bless the family of Douglas Baker with your consolation and peace.  Amen.

Lenten Greetings from Church of Peace 02-17-16

Greetings from Church of Peace on this Lenten Wednesday!

Tonight we gather in the lovely quietness of our sanctuary to meet God in the singing of hymns, reading of Scripture, and the lighting of the Lenten candles. Our sermon comes to us from Mayberry, North Carolina as Andy Griffith and the gang wrestle with humility.  Join us at 7:00 p.m. for this inspiring service.

Sunday’s service centers on Psalm 27, a song of faith for both good times and difficult ones.  The children of our Sunday School will sing. Little Evelyn Sue Schmitz will be baptized. The church officers will be blessed. The service will begin at 8:45 a.m.

Sunday is also the first day of the Council’s pre-sale of the demolition rummage for church members only.  The sale will begin after worship and last until 11:15. Peruse our huge collection of “stuff” and put a bid on things that interest you. Details of the sale will be available in Sunday’s bulletin.

We need teams of two people to help our little ones cross Military Road on their way to the YMCA for Sunday School.  We have the orange vests and the stop signs.  All we need are the volunteers.  Please call the church office if you’d be willing to help on occasional Sundays.

A reminder: the church offices are now located in the Upper Room of Gammert Hall.  Please use the Ruggles Street entrance (elevator door) during weekdays.  The other doors will be open at worship times.

That’s the news from Church of Peace!

We’ll see you in church.  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Kind and wise God, I know that you are with me today.  Make me keenly aware of your presence.  Show me opportunities to serve you by serving others.  Grant me joy and peace in my life.  Amen.
