Greetings from Church of Peace 05/26/16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

This Sunday’s worship service will focus on the idea of trusting in God.  Two exciting Scripture stories and a prayer journey will highlight the service.

We extend our Christian sympathy to the family of Jim Schaalma who died late last week.  Please remember Audrey and her family when you pray.

Construction update: The week’s work has been framing and pouring the footings for the new addition. So nice to see progress made every day!

The church office will be closed on Memorial Day.  Following that day, we will be operating with summer hours which means the church will be open from 9:00 until 1:00 Monday through Thursday and 9:00 until noon on Friday. These hours continue through Labor Day.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: I pray today, dear God, for the strength I need to live faithfully and the peace I need to live joyfully.  Please bless those who mourn with a sense of your comfort, especially the family of Jim Schaalma.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 05/19/16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Sunday will be a bright day here at Church of Peace. The sermon will be Taking a Nature Walk with God. We’ll welcome new members into our congregation.  The Sunday School and the Chapel Choir will both sing.  Join us at 8:45 a.m. for this joyful service.

Sunday is the final day of Sunday School for this school year.  We are deeply appreciative of our teachers for their months of preparation and gentle guidance for the kids – Heidi Hickey, Lindsay Poirier, and Angie Petersen for the youngest group, Jody and Tanya Marcoe, Victor Abitz, and Barb Gustafson for the middle group, and Chan Ramirez, Mike Riegert, and Rob Giese for the oldest group.  Siera Ramirez has lead the students in song. Our children are blessed by these caring adults. We are grateful to God for their ministries among us.

Janet Willis has been hospitalized.  Norma Bacon is in hospice care, nearing the end of her life among us.  Please remember these women when you pray.

Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. youth and parents will gather in Gammert Hall to talk about the National Youth Event coming up in July.  Ten students will be traveling to Orlando for this faith-building and fun event.

This Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., Golden Fellowship will host Jordan Skiff (from the Lake Winnebago Quality Improvement Association) who will present a fascinating program on Lake Winnebago, its health issues, and current projects underway to improve its well-being in the coming years. Lunch will follow.  Please sign up on the bulletin board in Gammert Hall or call the church office at 921-8215.

A prayer for today: O God whose light shines through every earthly darkness, I pray today for a sense of your brightness in my life.  Show me how to shine for you. Bless those who are sick, especially Janet Willis and Norma Bacon, with your nearness and love.  I pray remembering Jesus.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 05/12/16

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Wear red on Sunday if you have it – it’s Pentecost, the day of fire and wind, the birthday of the Christian church.  We’ll celebrate the rite of confirmation. Worship begins at 8:45. There will be plenty of room for you!

This month, the Golden Fellowship offers you an opportunity to learn about the Lake Winnebago Water Quality Association. Join us on Tuesday, May 24th at 11:00 a.m. and stay for the lunch which follows. Please sign up on the bulletin board in Gammert Hall.

Construction news: The men in big machines are hard at work out there preparing the ground for the pouring of the concrete foundation.

The first game for our ace softball team is next Monday, May 16th, at 8:00 p.m. at South Cutler field. Spectators are always welcomed.

A prayer for today: I need your help today, O God, if I am to live joyfully and faithfully.  Please fill me not only with a keen desire to help others but also a sense of peace in walking through life with you by my side.  Amen.
