Greetings from Church of Peace 09-28-17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

Sunday is World Communion Sunday.  We will celebrate Holy Communion with breads from around the world. It will be altar communion. Join us for this joyful commemoration of Christian unity!

We extend our Christian sympathy to Ken and Kathy Meyn on the death of Gloriann (Dynie) Meyn.  The funeral will be Friday morning at the church.

The Church of Peace Readers’ Group will meet at Rolling Meadows Restaurant at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday for a conversation about the book The Kindness Diaries by Leo Logothetis. Next month’s book is a novel by Pastor Jim entitled Sheboygan County Chronicle. You can buy one in the church office for $8.00.

A week from Sunday, on October 8th, all members and friends of the church are invited to venture with us on a field trip to Pilgrim Center where we will learn about Native American spirituality, handle artifacts, take a walking tour of the property with an archeological guide, do a craft, and enjoy a delicious lunch. The bus leaves at 10:10. Sign-up sheets are available in the church office.

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Enliven my spirit, O God, so that I can glow with your joy and love today.  Open my eyes to opportunities to offer a compassionate word or helping hand in the name of Christ.  Bless Ken and Kathy Meyn with your deep peace which passes understanding.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 09-21-17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

What word shall we use? “Busy” hardly covers it.  “Bustling” comes close. How about “lively”? It’s all of those things and more this week at Church of Peace as we prepare for the Fall Festival on Saturday. You can bring your contributions of books, rummage (no clothes please), produce, purses, jewelry, candy, and baked goods anytime from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. today or tomorrow.  And then stop in for the fun on Saturday! Extra help for the clean-up after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday will be greatly appreciated.

Sunday morning worship will begin at 8:45 a.m.  We will be learning from two interesting Biblical stories about God’s surprising generosity.  Join us for this time of inspiration.

Laurie King and Randy Stafford have been hospitalized this week. Please pray for God’s healing light to shine upon them.

That’s the news from Church of Peace!

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Show me how to serve you through helping others today, O God, and thank you for blessing me so abundantly that I have much to share.    Be with Laurie King and Randy Stafford as they recover from surgery.  Shower your love upon our church family as we work together at our Fall Festival.  May we be a beacon of hospitality to our neighbors who come here on Saturday.  Amen.

Greetings from Church of Peace 09-14-17

Greetings from Church of Peace!

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound…” is a favorite hymn of many people.  We’ll sing it in worship on Sunday and Pastor Jim will share some history about its author.  Come celebrate God’s forgiving love with us! Worship begins at 8:45 a.m.

Christine Weimer is in the hospital.  Please remember her when you pray.

This Saturday from 9-noon the 6th through 12th grade youth are gathering to make applesauce for the Fall Festival.

Golden Fellowship meets next Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. for “Summer Show and Tell.”  Sign up on the bulletin board so we have enough lunch!

The Fall Festival is only a week and a half away.  It’s time to gather your books and jewelry, old treasures and purses.  Be sure to save time next week for baking and candy-making. Garden produce in its prime or crafts waiting to be sold?  We’d love to sell them at the General Store.  You can drop these things off at the church from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. next week.  And if you can stay a while and help set up – all the better!

That’s the news from Church of Peace.

We’ll see you in church!  Pastors Jenny and Jim

A prayer for today: Spirit of Kindness and Joy, pour down your blessings today and open my eyes to see them clearly. Shine your light into my heart so that I might reflect your love to everyone I meet during these hours.  Bless Christine Weimer with a speedy and complete recovery after surgery.  Thank you, dear God.  Amen.
